The Map Window


The Map Window renders the map using the current MapFile settings. Navigation and Selection tools have been provided to review and iinterrogate the content of the map. When a tool has been selected from the Toolbar the mouse cursor within the Map Window reflects the current selected tool.


The following tools are available:


Pan

Selecting the 'Pan' tool on the Toolbar (or the Menu) you can re-centre the map by dragging the image by using the mouse. The view is refreshed automatically when the mouse button is released.

Zoom In

Selecting the 'Zoom In' tool on the Toolbar (or the Menu) you can use the mouse to select the rectangle area to be zoomed in. The view is refreshed automatically when the mouse button is released. Regardless of the current selected tool you can use the mouse wheel to increase/decrease the extent of the map.

Zoom Out

Selecting the 'Zoom Out' tool on the Toolbar (or the Menu) you can use the mouse to select a rectangle area to specify the zoom factor. The smallest rectangle selects the largest zoom factor.

Select Item

With the 'Select Item' tool a map feature can be selected by clicking a point over the feature. The layer must be marked as 'selectable' in the Layer Property Editor in order for MapManager to select features within a layer.

Select By Rectangle

With the 'Select By Rectangle' tool one or more features can be selected by drawing a rectangle over the map. Any features overlapping the selection polygon will be selected. The layer must be marked as 'selectable' in the Layer Property Editor in order for MapManager to select features within a layer.

Select By Polygon

With the 'Select By Polygon' tool one or more features can be selected by drawing a selection polygon over the map. The polygon is drawn by pressing the left button to define each vertex and using double click to finish the drawing. The layer must be marked as 'selectable' in the Layer Property Editor in order for MapManager to select features within a layer.
